Returns that fit Harris County courts

A return with the wrong caption can delay a default judgment. We check the court type on every job before preparing the affidavit, so district court cases carry "IN THE DISTRICT COURT OF HARRIS COUNTY" and justice court cases carry "IN THE JUSTICE COURT OF HARRIS COUNTY." Our affidavits are prepared to the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure and have a 97% acceptance rate.

The rules that matter most on a Houston serve:

TRCP 103: service by a sheriff, constable, court-authorized person, or a process server certified under Supreme Court order. Never by a party or an interested person.
TRCP 106: personal delivery or certified mail first. When those fail, a Rule 106(b) motion supported by a sworn statement can get court approval for substituted service, such as leaving the papers with someone over 16 at the residence or business. We prepare 106 motions and orders for $65.00.
TRCP 107: the return must state who was served, when, where and how. A default judgment can't be granted until the return has been on file for ten days, not counting the day of filing and the day of judgment. We deliver affidavits within 48 hours of service so that ten-day clock starts sooner.

Bad addresses and evasive defendants

Gated apartment complexes, high-rise lobbies, energy-corridor office parks and suburban subdivisions all make service in Houston harder than it looks. After two failed attempts, we run a complimentary skip trace using public records, USPS data and Harris County Appraisal District records to find 2–3 alternate addresses before we contact you. For defendants who are deliberately avoiding service, we offer stakeouts, and we can help with substituted service or posting options under Texas law. Every attempt is documented with time-stamped photos and geo-location.
